What About IID Calibration and Monitoring?2024-05-13T20:35:25+00:00

Once installed, your B.E.S.T. Interlock device requires calibration and inspection by a certified technician at least every 60 days. This ensures proper functionality and identifies any violations, like missed retests. Non-compliance is reported to the court or DMV, potentially suspending or revoking your driving privileges.

Serious violations may lead to immediate suspension or revocation by the DMV if you have an optional IID restriction. Examples include attempts to tamper with, remove, or bypass the IID, or failing to comply with calibration or maintenance requirements. The DMV may reinstate your IID-restricted license upon receiving a new DL 920 form.

What Is an Ignition Interlock Device (IID)?2024-05-13T20:34:53+00:00

An IID, roughly the size of a smartphone, connects to your vehicle’s ignition system. Before starting the engine, you must provide a breath sample. If the IID detects any alcohol, the engine won’t turn on. During your drive, periodic breath tests ensure continued sobriety.
